In recent years some universities have put a series of weird questions to the applicants in their interviews of independent enrollment, causing a stir among the students and society. They have sharply divided opinions. Some people are in favor of this. They hold the opinion that interview is also a good way to choose talented people. Because of the more open-minded and more challenging questions, talented students can stand out quickly. Those so-called weird questions can be used to evaluate children’s ability to respond and think independently, testing their critical minds at the same time. However, some people are firmly opposed to this action in independent enrollment. They strongly think that the weird and unreal questions confuse the students. All the students are not used to thinking in that way. So obviously, it is overwhelming for most of them to answer. After all, these questions are far away from real life too much. As far as I am concerned, independent enrollment cannot be stuck in a weird circle. Although, critical and wide minds are playing more and more important roles in current society, we also need many real and common things which can’t be abandoned.

Some people think highly of these questions. They think the interview is meant to select excellent students who are good at more than just taking exams, which are mainly based on textbooks.Besides, there are no fixed answers to the open questions and whether they have critical thinking abilities.
On the contrary, others argue that these questions are so weird as to make applicants at a loss.Besides, they are far from students' real lives. They doubt whether such questions can really test applicants' knowledge and abilities.
In my opinion, the questions are really challenging to the applicants. Our school education mainly focus not on students' abilities of independent thinking and creation but on their abilities to take exams.Such education can't bring up talents badly needed in society. Therefore, our educators should reflect on what they are doing.
