Ultrafine alumina (Al2O3) has a series
of excellent features such as the very high chemical stability, thermal
stability, high hardness and corrosion resistance etc. It has been widely used
at present. Therefore, the research of ultrafine aluminum oxide powder and the
choice of the best optimization scheme have important significance for the
manufacturing of ultrafine aluminum oxide powder of the high yield, good loose,
small particle size and uniform distribution. Precipitation is applied in this
study, and manufacture ultrafine alumina powder with aluminium chloride and the
precipitating agent preparation as raw material. Through researching the
influence of the precipitant on alumina powder, we find ammonium bicarbonate can
be taken as the best precipitant. After the XRD and laser particle size
measurement of calcination samples, test results show that; aluminum oxide
powder manufactured with aluminium chloride and ammonium bicarbonate as raw
material by precipitation method has the advantages of the good dispersivity,
the smaller particle size and high purity. The technology has the characters of
simple process, convenient operation and low cost. Therefore, it is easy to
realize industrial production.
