提供一篇,仅供参考,可以自己改写一下:
Based on Mark Twain's novel, "The Millionaire Pound Note" takes an interesting satirical look at the hypocrisy stemming from class distinction in the 50s England. The story sticks to the main theme by emphasizing on the hypocrisy of the upper class society but at the same time it also creates a balance that prevents the movie from being a mockery of the British society. The movie drags at some point but the love story appears at the right time and there is plenty of comedy to keep one entertained. A charming Gregory Peck totally nails the part and the luminous Jane Griffiths is a treat. Reginald Beckwith, as Peck's sidekick Rock is amusing. The ending is a little predictable but the director does an overall good job by rounding it up and presenting his points.

"What is the fate of a very honest and wise foreigner who drifts to London without any relatives or friends, has no money on hand but that one million pound check, and can not prove himself to be the owner of it?" This is Mark Twain in his novel Million Pounds, a pair of wealthy British gentleman brothers bet on the theme, and this debate has triggered such an adventure. The story took place in England in the early twentieth Century. A pair of wealthy brothers bet on a cheque worth millions of pounds to see whether it would bring endless wealth or just a worthless piece of paper. Soon, Henry Adams from the United States entered the eyes of the rich brothers. The man's boat sank on the rocks. He had only arrived in England by working for other ships to mortgage his ticket. Now he was penniless and hungry. Such a poor man was a perfect candidate. So the rich brothers gave Adams a million pounds check and agreed to return it in a month, when they would offer him any job he wanted. Adams accepted the agreement in a muddle. At this time Adams or ragged clothes, disheveled, whether to eat, buy clothes will be people's eyes. But when he pulled out the check, people not only courted him, but even waived the fees, because they thought Adams was a rich man, a millionaire in a weird, upper class dress. Soon the news of the millionaire was published in the newspaper, and Adams became the focus of the upper class. Dukes and businessmen were proud to associate with Adams, and young girls were jealous of each other to attract his attention. As for the end of the story, anyone who has read the novel or watched the film of the same name knows, of course, that Henry Adams has become a household name in London, even in Britain, from a penniless poor man. When Mr. Henry Adams returned the magical million pound check to its owner after a month's deadline, the "poor man" was already the owner of a 200,000 pound deposit and the fiance of an intelligent and beautiful English lady.
Money is not everything. Money can buy a bed, but not sleep. Money can buy food, but not taste. Money can buy books, but not knowledge. Money can really satisfy people's vanity. But these are all false, the most real life is people's open life. Like Henry, he lost money, but he still lived an optimistic life, because too much money for a positive person was just a fetter. What we have to do is to treat our life with a calm heart. We have to strive for our own life. There is no free lunch in the world. Only the industrious people can have a harvest. Even if you are rich, you may not get everything you want. No amount of money will eventually just change in numbers, nothing else will get you. The real value of money is how you own it and how you use it. Bread is what we need, but we need more spiritual things. This phenomenon still exists in today's society, some people for their own future to humbly flatter, to satisfy their vanity. With a false face to please those rich people, and even to sell their personality and dignity. These people will eventually be eliminated by society, their strong desire for money will distort their personality, eventually lead to crime, hurt themselves and harm others. Money is not everything, just hope that in this materialistic world, millions of pounds can give more people a warning to inspire.
