In this day and age, it is universally acknowledged that education is one of the key determinations of individual success. Accompanying the change of teaching method has come some suffering, and how to teach students is very prominent among them. Many people think that teachers can not only teach academic subjects but also instill high moral values to students, but it is hard for others to agree with.

Some people claim that teachers should only impart academic knowledge to students. Their jobs are how to make their students grasp what has been taught efficiently, and let them get a high point in exam. To achieve this aim, teachers need to shift more attentions on developing teaching methodologies, and how to attract students in class. Parents have to be responsible to their offspring’s behavior, and teach them what is right and wrong.

However, more people hold divergent views. They assert that, promoting students’ physical, mental and emotional development is important for their future. It is beneficial to them and society for the following reasons. First of all, it is good for students’ future. If people only have a smart head without a good personality, it will lead them into a bad situation like break the low, cheating and so on. Secondly, it is beneficial to social stability; the increase of crime rate is large fueled by citizen’s quality. Hence, if school could teach students right from wrong, the crime rate will decrease.

Base on the discussion above, I am convinced that school should be responsible for moulding students’ character. It is not only benefit society but also themselves. On balance the upside of letting students judge right and wrong outweigh its downside. Thus, when schools teach students academic knowledge, they need to help students to form a right personality.

To achieve this ,what needs to done is pay more attentions to teaching methodologies, and attract students' attention in class. Parents are to be responsible for their offspring’s behavior, and to teach them what is right and wrong.
