不是持续发生．
前面的was running是谓语动词
后面的hissing是现在分词，表示主动和进行(动作和woke up同时发生，醒来的同时嘶叫)

之所以用现在分词，是因为then后面的并列句已经有谓语woke up了，所以当然只能用非谓语
事实上，hissing这个动作是短暂性的，一瞬间的，当然不可能持续
只是表示主动和进行！
