1 In front of the Bird's Nest on Saturday, a group of teachers and students from the earthquake-devastated areas in Sichuan Province remembered the recent catastrophe, and emphatically urged their hometowns to ride heroically through these hard times.
As BOCOG's invited guests, the visitors watched the raising of the flag in Tian'anmen Square this morning, after which they began their first full "Olympic Day."
The Sichuan tourists, who have overcome much pain in recent days, smiled excitedly while admiring the enormous National Stadium.
Gu Guowei is a student of a middle school in Sichuan. After the earthquake hit, Gu was buried under a pile of rubble; only after a few hours' of effort was he rescued. Now, every time he looks in the mirror, a small scar near his left eyebrow reminds him of that frightening time.
But bad memories didn't mar his day today. "Before, I could only see the Bird's Nest on television or in newspapers. Never in my dreams did I imagine I could be so close to the Bird's Nest," he said with a broad smile.
The guests arrived in Beijing just yesterday, and woke at 3 a.m. this morning in order to make their way to Tian'anmen Square to witness the flag raising. Gu told reporters that he was not tired, however, as he fully appreciated being able to visit Beijing. The group toured the Olympic Tower and some members were lucky enough to hold the "lucky clouds" torch for themselves.
The students have plans to attend an activity tonight in Beijing, where they will represent the residents of the earthquake-torn areas. They will bring symbols of the Olympic spirit back to their hometowns.
On Sunday, the youngsters will plant trees symbolizing Olympic dreams, letting their own dreams fly.
2.Though i'm not very keen on sport, I do have a sport star who i admire a lot. the name of the man is called liu xiang.
this athlete from shanghai is a well-known track man who has successfully achieved champion in the 110 metres hurdle race in the 2004 Olymics Games. He finished his race in 12.71 seconds and that evens the world record.
Actually, liuxiang is not only my admired hero, virtualy every Chinese who has seen his performance in thegame is deeply impressed. In recent years, Chinese athletes have successfully gained international recognition for their outstanding performance. However, there haven't been many breakthroughs on the track field, and that's why I admire liu so much. He has achieved the record which is said to be impossible, xreating a miracle in front of a world of spectators. It was the first time that a Chinese,a yellow-skinned man, broke the dominace of black people on the track field. Ina great sense, his achievement is not only your Chinese pride, but the pride of all yellow skinned people. well, another interesting thing of liu that amazes me is that besides being a successful athlete. Healso sings well. Liu definitely is my hero.
3 Why we learn English
The English language has become an international language because it is used by people in the most countries in the world now.
In the open times, if you want to do business with foreigners, you must English because most of them speak and write in English, English is one of the working languages at international meetings, Today, most of valuable books are written inEnglish, If you know mush English, you will read newspapers and magazines in English and learn a lot of knowledge about interaction better. You also can do What you should do for the world peace.
English is very important to us, but many students don't know why ;hey should learn it. I hope that all the students should pay more attention to English study and use it freely.
English is particularly important in the fields of science and technology. There are many scientific books that we shall not be able to enjoy without a good knowledge of English. Besides, technology of the modern world is, as a matter of fact, available in English. We would be completely ignorant of many scientific facts without knowledge of English.
From what we have said, one can say that English is learnt for both benefit and enjoyment. It is, in a word, a way to success not only in examinations but also in life, for this reason, students learn English - not only to pass their examinations but also to enjoy the pleasures of life.
We can summarize the reason for wanting to learn English in that nothing can be done, without it. Especially with regards to dealing with computers and modern technology, such as the internet. Without English, one is closed to those linguistic items which render us capable of entering the modern technological world.

2 swimming It's important to know your limits when it comes to playing in the water. You could develop a cramp (where a muscle in your body suddenly tenses up and causes pain) or other physical problem that makes it hard to swim. If you get a cramp, get out of the water for a while and give your muscles a rest.
Waves can knock you down or push you to the ocean floor. Stay close to an adult or get out of the water when the waves get rough. People also get into trouble when they start to panic or become too tired to swim. It is important to know your limits.
Here are some other good water safety tips:
Learn to swim. Ask your parents to contact your local American Red Cross or community center for information on boating or water safety courses.
Always put on plenty of sunscreen before you go outside. It's also a good idea to wear sunglasses and a hat to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays.
Stop swimming or boating as soon as you see or hear a storm. Remember, lightning is electricity — electricity and water are a dangerous combination.
Don't swim in the dark.
Wherever you're swimming, do have a waterfall of fun!
