English may be the most important factor in deciding which countries are leaders in the future. The language of the most advanced management and technology is undoubtedly English. Being able to absorb this information is really the key to the new centrury. In the 21st centrury, we increasingly have to deal with other countries. We can' t go there and speak our own language, because nobody is going to learn it in order to understand us. Our Asian rival, India, has surged ahead of other developing countries in information technology, because of its superior English skills. Unless we are able to master English, we will not be able to get our population to use IT and take advantage of the new economy. There is an urgent need to have a workforce which is proficient in the language, in view of the information technology onslaught.

English in China
English is a very popular language in China nowadays. Everyone is learning English and all schools provide English lessons. English is becoming very important in China, because being able to speak English, might give people a chance of going overseas, and people who went overseas and came back seems to get jobs very easily.

These days in China, there are many foreigners coming to visit China or they’re coming for trading with our government. To be able to talk to them fluently, more Chinese have started to study English. There also seems to be lots of people going overseas, so people needs to study English even more.

At school, English is nearly as important as Chinese. Students that get good grades in English get chances to go overseas, and to experience what lives are like on the other side of the world, and help our culture to develop.

Now days, you can see English everywhere in China, like on most of foods wrappers. Some shops names and products are even written in English or use the English version instead of Chinese. These all showed how important English is and how Chinese rate English.
