1、具体释义不同

assert表示“主张,断言”,指宣称某事如此,并不说它是事实,着重主观自信心。；affirm表示“肯定,断言”,指坚信不疑因而断言。

2、词性不同

assert是及物动词,接名词或名词性从句作宾语,也可以接“to be+ n./adj. ”作补足语的复合宾语；affirm作“断言; 证实”解时多用作及物动词,可直接接宾语,但多数情况下接that/wh-从句；affirm还可接“to be n./adj. ”充当宾语补足语，affirm偶尔也可用作不及物动词,接介词to引起的短语表示证实的内容。

3、时态用法

assert不同不用于进行时态；affirm可以用于进行时及各种时态。
