如果可以选两个，那么E也可以。如果只选一个，那么B比E好，因为E的代词变换显得很累赘。

如果选A或C，主语都还是starfish，和整个句子的主语一致，后面没有必要出现the animal。B选项里it指代的是the (lost) one arm，所以后面再说overcompensating的时候要把主语the animal加上。
如果选D，one arm和they（are quickly replaced)数不一致。

选B，with 的伴随状语中compensating 跟growing是平行的，三个以上并列的才可以用“，”D，E排除，还有从意思上，不是“它们丢失一只手”，而是一只手作主语。
