我仔细想了你的回答，觉得有道理，只是两点不懂。
Among the most important questions the journalists wanted <answered> was"How to……“
这句话如果去掉among，我能看出是the most important questions做宾语并且是先行词，the journalists为主语， wanted为journalists的谓语，answered做宾补，省略that的定语从句。但among在这里的意思应该是among the most important questions，在最重要的问题中。那么，定语从句就不成立了。
还有一点，若是the most important questions作先行词，它是复数形式，为什么后面省略的（that）后是was？不应该是were吗？

答案是A的理由:这里这里answered=that was answered，将该定语省略后，你会看得很清楚:Among the …questions the journalists wanted was ….其实，原句若改成Among the most important questions, what the journalists wanted was the answered "How to keep the present economical growth without causing the damage to the environment" .可能更能看清楚answered其实就是that(which)was answered的简略形式.个人觉得这个answered也可以是前后用逗号隔开的非限定性定语从句which was answered，无论是定语从句还是非限制性定语从句，都只是被撰稿人简化为answered放在了那个让许多人困惑的地方。这不难理解也不必深究，其实现代语言(无论何种语言)的进步许多时候都是媒体工作者推动的结果。
