The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingways most enduring works.
Told in language of great simplicity and power，it is the story of an old Cubanfisherman，down on his luck，and his supreme ordeal——a relentless，agonizing battle with agiant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream.
Here Hemingway recasts，in strikingly contemporarystyle，the classic thene of courage in the face of defeat，of personal triumph won fromlos.
Written in 1952，this hugely successfully novella confirmed his power and presence in theliterary world and played a huge part in his winning the 1954 Nobel Prize for Literature. Thenovel is very famous in the world，so lot of people like this novel.
We also studied it in ourChinese class，Hemingways novel are always interesting I like his novel much，also in his novelwe can learn a lot by his meanings. It' s really a good novel for people to read.
