一个英语的问题，请高手帮忙！

1.There is no particular virtue in doing somethings the way they have always been done.
请问“the way they have always been done”这在句中是什么成分？为什么能这样用？
2.Faced with getting from A to B,the average person will...,the innovators will search for alternate course.
请问face本身就是及物动词，为什么后面还有一个with，“Faced with getting from A to B”如果是个省略的形式，那么它的完整式是什么样的？
