Switch to TEMP -5℃ to 45℃; observe reading for stability within ±0.2℃.
Switch to 0.1mg/L or 0.01mg/L scale and wait until display shows a stable reading for at least one minute before calibration. To calibrate in %,consult the instrument instructions.
Use probe temperature reading and true local atmospheric pressure (or feet above sea level ) to determine calibration values from Tables I and II.
Example :
Probe temp. =21℃, Altitude =1000ft.
From Table I the calibration value for 21℃ is 8.92mg/L.
From Table II the altitude factor for 1000ft.is about .96
The correct calibration value is :8.92mg/L x.96=8.56 mg/L.
With probe stabilized in moist air,adjust O2 CALIB control until meter reads the calibration value determined.
MEASUREMENT
Adjust SALINITY control to salinity of sample.
Place calibrated probe in sample and stir.
Wait until you can ascertain probe equilibration by observing temperature and dissolved oxygen readings that are stable for a full minute.
Read dissolved oxygen in mg/L. To read in %,consult the instrument manual.
The instrument should normally be left on during the working day to avoid the delay of waiting for probe repolarization.
