The last day of a week is saturday. The frist day of a week is sunday.
According to the Bible, the Sabbath or Sunday as the first day of the week which marks Saturday is the last day of the week. In the Old Testament we are told that the world was created in 6 days and God rested on the 7th day and this is the Sabbath. People will say that that proves that Sunday is the 7th day, as that is the Sabbath. But they are forgetting something. The Old Testament was written by the Jews. The Jewish Sabbath, was and still is Saturday, the 7th day of the week. So Saturday is the the last day of the week.
If you then go to the New Testament and to the crucifixion, there is more evidence. Good Friday is described as being the day of preparation, the day before the Sabbath. Also it is said that they did not want Jesus on the cross on the Sabbath, so when he was found to be dead they took him off the cross and laid him in the tomb. Jesus was put in the tomb on Good Friday. Did you ever think or wonder why did he not rise on Saturday morning, instead of waiting until Sunday? The answer is simple, Saturday was the Sabbath, the day of rest, so Jesus stayed in the tomb.
As international standard, countries such as western countries and the United States still have their calendars refer to Saturday as the end of the seven-day week.
