此处some grammar mistakes是his English composition中的一部分，而不是并列关系，所以用except for而不能用except。

如：All the other students went there except Tom.
The house is very nice except for its chimney.
Tom和all the other students是同类名词，都是学生；
而its chimney(烟囱)是the house的一部分。
