类似地,过度依赖游戏式教学、多媒体软件等手段,我们抓住的只是学生一时的注意力,激起的也只是孩子一时的兴致。如何激起孩子内在的学习动力,抓住孩子学习英语的“心”,让他们从“感兴趣”转变为“持久热爱”,从“要他学”转变为“我要学”——这些才是小学生英语教学中真正要解决的问题。
(2)小学英语学习,仅重视口语,轻阅读与写作。
能说一口漂亮流利的英语,几乎是所有英语学习者的梦想。但目前小学阶段的英语学习存在着仅重视口语学习,而轻视阅读和写作的训练这一现象。其实,依靠单纯的强化口语训练并不能让孩子练就真正地道的口语,也无益于学生整体英语能力的提高。口语和英语的其他环节应该是相辅相成的。
(3)认为单词记不住、词汇量少,是孩子“不够刻苦”的原因。
很多家长都把词汇量看作英语学习效果的首要体现,所以一旦发现自己的孩子总是记不住单词、词汇量少,家长们就急着督促孩子赶紧背单词,似乎这一切都是孩子“不够刻苦“造成的。
其实一开始就逼着孩子孤立地记单词,长期采用填鸭式的“记忆”教育模式,这样只会扼杀学生的学习兴趣。对于学前和小学生来说,培养兴趣,获取语感,形成规范的语音语调,养成大胆开口讲英语的习惯是家长和英语教学工作者的首要任务。英语母语国家的孩子在正式进入阅读之前会进行2-3年的词汇系统训练,而我们的小学到三年级忽然要求拼写,学生们没有掌握方法,单词学习的难度可想而知。事实上单词学习也有科学的方法,美国等英语母语国家在词汇学习方面有成熟的思路可以借鉴,就是自然拼读法。
(4)仅为考取各种英语等级证书而学英语。
急功近利是当前这个当前社会的通病,这也体现在家长让孩子学习英语的目的上。很多家长把考取各种英语等级证书作为学生学英语的主要目标,似乎只有一本本证书才能给他们一种付出得到回报的踏实感。
事实上,这些家长走进了一个只重结果不重过程的误区。学生的英语学习是一个循序渐进的过程,其中有着一定的科学规律。如果两眼只盯着一本证书,单纯地进行应试训练,则容易忽视方法和规律,犯下拔苗助长的错误,最终培养出的很可能是一个“营养不良”的孩子——证书满满,能力一般。
