Hey dudes, I'm the new kid on the block. I would like to think of myself as hopefully the next generation of YD. I read a lot of this forum and the community is really chill and very positive; no elitist attitudes, no pointless bitching, and just an overall good vibe.

I'm graduating high school this year and am about to take the plunge into the big bad world. I've taken Japanese for 4 years since I was a freshman and have some ability with the language (although not as much as I'd like). I plan on going to college in Japan for 5 years starting next year and YD is an awesome place to learn about the real Japan from other YD prospective's; not the trolls on Bigdaikon or straight suits from the JET Program.

I've read about the old YD site and how helpful it was and am sure this site will follow its own path down that road. Some of you have awesome experiences and have already talked about them, however there are others that probably haven't and if we can get those out there I'm sure it will help those next in line. I'll have lots of questions that I'm sure others would have and it would be awesome to get feedback from you guys. Take me under your wing!
