A young interpretor, clear pronounciation, perfect tone of voice, was receiving foreign guest for the first time, every time they arrived somewhere, he had to say " You come this way, you sit here, Don't go too fast.. FOllowme, don't be late" He believed he was treating the guests with lots of care and attention and deserves to be respected. However, that particular guest didn't want to go outside to sightseeing with him the next day. To him, the young interpretor has inappropriate manners, and was treating him like a little children.
From the above two examples, it both demostrated the differences between language and culture. Any language is a reflection of a culture, and has its deep meaning. Sometimes, we can view languages as tree, and culture as forests, if you only pay attention to laguages, and not understand the culture it was created in, it's equivalent to valueing a tree over the whole forest, therefore, it would be hard to correctly use and understand that particular language. A young translator,with beautiful pronouncation and natural intonation, always say (you come this way, "You sit here",Don't go to fast.Follow me.
