Dear XXX,

I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks for sending me a such wonderful present while I was in the hospital.It was nice of you to come and see me, and I was so surprised that you had bought me a present.
When I opened it I saw it was just the kind of thing I had always wanted. I like the colors and the shape of the frame. I will probably hang it in my bedroom, or on the empty wall near the bookcase in the living room. It was so nice of you.
Thanks again for the present and hope to see you soon.
