volunteer既可以作名词，表示“志愿者”；也可以作动词，表示“自愿做，无偿做”等含义。 

1.作名词，有志愿者的含义。

We need some volunteers to clean up the room.

2.作及物动词时，有“自愿说出、主动提出”等含义。

He volunteered the statement to the police.

他主动向警方供出了情况。

3.作“志愿干某事”时，可以是及物动词，也可以是不及物动词。

Volunteer one's time to do sth.

自愿利用时间干某事。

We all volunteered our help to the homeless people.

我们都自愿帮助了无家可归的人。
