A Letter To My Mother----Gift for Mother’s Day
Dear Mum,
I write today to tell you that I love you and you are the most respectable woman in my whole life.
Mum, do you remember that afternoon in 1980s? After enduring several hours’ suffering you bought me to this world. It’s said that a woman is half dead in the course of childbirth. But for you, must be far more than that because you are disabled with a poor health. Thank goodness, we both survived.
Mum, since the moment you called me son, you have been taking the responsibility of a mother. And all in your life till now, you have been loving me heart and soul, keeping me safe from harm though you are not strong enough yourself. People all said you spoiled me too much (I am afraid so). And every time when they spoke ironically:“ Only you have a son, don’t you?” Your reply was always like this:“ Yes, I do.” Proudly as you replied.
Mum, in my memory both dad and you seldom beat me up because you don’t think that it is a good way to educate. However, there is one I never forget. It was a summer afternoon. When you came home as usual and found me playing with some kids near the well. You yelled at me and forced me back home. I didn’t think I would get a thrash but I was wrong that time. You whipped me hard with your knitting needles in spite of my begging cry. But after that, you cried with me and told me that how you cared for me because you were afraid that I would drown in the well. So from then on I dare not to play near the well and the like any more. Not because I am afraid of being thrashed but because I am afraid of your tears. Mum, I mention this doesn’t mean I have a grudge against you. Oppositely, I am thankful because you let me know how great a mother’s love is. Thank you, mum.
There are still so many things I want to tell you mum, but I’d like talk with you when I am back home. Mum, tomorrow is Mother’s Day. Here I wish you a good health and happiness of your life.
Yours beloved,
Son
P.S.This letter was an assignment for my writing course in college. I didn’t really send it to my mum because that is not my way to express love like this. But I want to share it with you this time and remind you guys who are reading this that love is not only a word or a bunch of carnation can work. It needs, in the rest of their life, more understanding and care. The Mother’s Day is coming two days later, here I send my best wishes to all mothers, mothers-to-be, and mothers in the future. Wish you all a good health and wonderful life.
My Mother
My Mother isa kind and gentle woman. She is always very gentle. She takes good care of her children and keeps them all at school. I have one brother and two sistets. So she gets four children in all. She gives us every comfort. We all love her and she loves us also.
My mother has too much to do in bringing us up. As our family is too poor to keep a servant, my mother has always to do very much work. She gets up very early and sleeps very late every day. She works hard, yet without complaining.
She is also a thrifty, and industrious woman. She saves every cent that she can and keeps everything in order. As she has been busy eversince she was young, she looks older than she really is. Her face is wrinkled, her hair becomes silver white, but she works as hard as ever.
Often she says to us, "work while you work, play while you play. If you do not work, you will become lazy and of no use to society." What piece of good advice this is! We must worth it well and always keep it in our mind.
A Touching Event
Yesterday afternoon I went to the Yuexiu Park. It happened that I saw a touching event. At that time, some people were boating on the lake. Among them was perhaps a happy family. They were taking photos when suddenly the girl fell off the boat into the water. She was struggling and her parents cried out, "Help!Help !" It was obvious that they could not swim at all. From nearby a young man immediately rushed to the lake. Without taking off his clothes, he jumped into the water and quickly swam towards the girl l who was already tired out. At last he carried her to the lake side. She was saved!
How happy the parents were! Before they thought of thanking the Young man, he had disappeared!
Shanghai will host the 2010 World Expo. The World Expo has a long history but it has never been held in Asia. So the 2010 World Expo is an honor for all of the Asians. Our government has promised that it will be the best one. And Shanghai, as a host city, will have more chances to develop quickly. As a student in Shanghai, I should learn English well so that I can be a volunteer in the Expo to help foreigners know more about Shanghai.
I hope the opening ceremony of the World Expo 2010 could had a setting of Shi Ku Men. So it can show the features of Shanghai. And the performers should wear QiPao. In this way, foreigners of all over the world will know the tradition of architecture style and the history of
First aid is emergency care for a victim of sudden illness or injury until more skillful medical treatment is available. It may save a life or improve certain vital signs including pulse, temperature,a clear airway(气道),and breathing. In minor emergencies, first aid may prevent a victim's condition from turning worse and provide relief from pain.First aid must be administered as quickly as possible. In the case of the critically injured,a few minutes can make the difference between complete recovery and loss of life.First-aid measures depend upon a victim's needs and the provider's level of knowledge and skill.Knowing what not to do in an emergency is as important as knowing what to do.Improperly moving a person with a neck injury, for example, can lead to permanent spinal(脊柱的)injury and paralysis(瘫痪).Despite the variety of injuries possible, several principles of first aid apply to all emergencies.
The first step is to call for professional medical help. The victim,if conscious, should be reassured that medical aid has been requested, and asked for permission to provide any first aid.Next, assess the scene, asking other people or the injured person's family or friends about details of the injury or illness, any care that may have already been given, and preexisting conditions such as diabetes(糖尿病)or heart trouble. The victim should be checked for a medical bracelet(手镯)or card that describes special medical conditions.Unless the accident scene becomes unsafe or the victim may suffer further injury,do not move the victim.
First aid requires rapid assessment of victims to determine whether life-threatening conditions exist. One method for evaluating a victim's condition is known by the acronym(首字母缩写词)ABC,which stands for:A-Airway:is it open and clear? B-Breathing:is the person breathing? Look, listen, and feel for breathing.C-Circulation:is there a pulse? Is the person bleeding externally? Check skin color and temperature for additional indications of circulation problems.
