1《Benefits of Reading》
“When you open a book for your child and share it in reading, you’re giving shape and dimension to the routine events of everyday life, making it possible for your child to discover the meaning of childhood.
“Books can make a favorite toy as full of life as Winnie-the-Pooh, turn a backyard into Wonderland, or a porch in Captain Hook’s pirate ship. Books place your child at the center of the world of imagination.” — Regina Higgins, Magic Kingdoms

When I was in senir school, fortunately my English teacher invited me to the English club helded by school. The club is a very famous English club in my hometown, and it publishes its own magazines all around our school. Therefore, I was so glad that I agreed to be a member of this club.
Having been in the club for a few months, our chairman told me that I should write an English essay. This is my first time to be invited to write an essay, I was a bit nervous. I didn't know what to write, and how to make my essay perfect. At that time, my teacher helped me. She told me I didn't need to worry about the essay, the only thing I need care was whether I had tried my best. On hearing this, I understood what I should write, and my essay was so good that many of my classmates thought it was quite good.
In that way , I began to know we don't have to care toomany things, the only thing we should do is to try our best.

An unforgettable experience
Usually, the first time you did something is unforgettable, although it couldn't be always wonderful.
As for me,an unforgettable experience of mine is the first time I joined the Red Cross. We took boxes, and walked on the street. We found some people on the street, then asked them to raise some money for Red Cross. At first,we were so surprised that just a few people would raise some money for Red Cross, and some people even thought we were cheat! But we weren't upset. We went on and worked for the whole day.
During that day,we all felt tired but happy, because we raised much money. We looked at the boxes and smiled.
It's really an unforgettable experience

Some Suggestions on the Classroom English Language Teaching
Although the classroom English language teaching has its advantages, it has some disadvantages which should be improved. There are some suggestions for it.
Firstly, the classroom English teaching should re-direct its orientation from teacher-centered to learner-centered. Teachers should become “a resource of information” rather than “the source of information”. So the teacher should design class activities and set tasks for students, give instructions, offer useful information and transmit knowledge as a resource when students feel confused and need assistance, and evaluate students’ work and give some advice and encouragement and prompt them to improve their communicative ability and gain competence
Secondly, the classroom English teaching should change from textbook-based to multimedia-based. The biggest disadvantage for Chinese learners in studying English is lack of native environment. So multi-media teaching aids including VCD, CD, Internet ect. should be introduced into classroom English teaching.
Thirdly, traditional organization of teaching and learning activities should be improved. More time in class ought to give way to students’ interactive oral practice such as discussion, debate, pair work and group work so that students are motivated to talk in English.
In the end, the teachers and the learners should expose to modern educational concepts and network-based technology, refreshed their approaches and attitudes towards English teaching and learning

The Benefits of China's Accession to WTO
Since China formally joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in November 2001, there are many positive changes which can also be regarded as benefits in another wording, which have taken place.
On the one hand, Chinese economy has continued growing strongly and attracting much foreign investment, while the world’s major economies have struggled with sluggish growth or recession. And for the common people, there is a great choice of services, more job opportunities and a greater desire to learn English. WTO membership has brought cheaper, diversified foreign products to supermarkets, improvements in the services offered by banks, and chances to attend all sorts of training courses with a view to securing better positions with different employers.
On the other hand, the broader opening up has widened horizons, ushered in social changes, enriched knowledge about international practices, and increased eagerness for integration in the world arena. Many have abandoned old ideas and working habits formed under the rigid planned economy.
In conclusion, the benefits WTO brings to Chinese people are far beyond mere material comfort and more benefits are the profound change in many people’s mindset.

The Internet
The Intemet was first established in 1960s. At that time, the computer was both large and expensive and the networks were unable to work well. If one of the computers broke down, the whole networks would be unable to work.
At first, the Intemet was just used by the government. By 1970s, it had been used in universities, banks and hospitals. At the beginning of 1990s, computers became both cheaper and easier to operate. Now it is very convenient to log on the Internet.
It is said that each day tens of millions of people log on the Internet.Sending e-mails is becoming more and more popular.
The Internet has become the most important part of people's life.

Generation Gap
Nowadays, there is often a lack of understanding between parents and children. Children always complain that their parents are out of date, while parents can’t approve of what their children say and do. Thus, a big generation gap is formed.
The gap remains wide for many reasons. Children want to be free to choose their own friends, select their own classes in school, plan their own future, earn and spend their own money, and generally run their own life in a more independent way than many parents allow. Also, young children wish to be understood by their parents, but most parents don’t quite understand their children. They regard it as their responsibility to teach their offspring traditional beliefs. They want them to be obedient and do well in school. Therefore, misunderstanding often arise from parents’ tendency to interfere in children’s daily activities.
In my opinion, most problems between parents and children could be solved by joint efforts of both sides to enhance mutual understanding.
8题目:Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Games are as important for adults as they are for children. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
In my opinion, games are also important for adults.
Firstly, in the highly competed society, most adults have too much pressure from work and family and many of them feel despair and unhappy. They force themselves to work and don’t know how to enjoy life. However, if they took part in some exciting games with each others sometimes, they probably could be totally relax and refresh themselves.
Secondly, nowadays more and more adults are losing their creativity. It’s seems to be known by everyone that most adults creativity is less than when they are children. I think maybe one of the reasons is that adults play fewer games than when before. Playing games is a good way to simulate your inspiration.
Thirdly, playing games can make the participators feel closer. Nowadays, adults seem to be less close than before, and someone seems unwilling to help when others in a bad condition. I think games may helps a lot in changing the situation.
In a word, I think games are as important as it is to children.
9 City traffic is a big problem in some cities in the world, especially in big cities. To solve the problem, someone are in favor of developing buses as means of city traffic. Others are in favor of the subway train. Between them, which is the better choice?
It is easier to take buses as means of city traffic than the subway trains because buses don't need special roads. But buses have also many disadvantages, some of which are very serious. They may cause louder noise and more traffic accidents. Buses give rise to serious air pollution and traffic jam. In order to stop what buses cause, a large amount of hand must be used to widen the roads. On the contrary, the subway train is of more advantages. Except the difficulty and high cost of building the subway, it is superior to the buses in many aspects.
Taking the advantages and disadvantages together into consideration, I would be in favor of developing the subway train as soon as possible.

The last less than twenty years saw rapid development of telephone service in China. Home phones, which used to be thought of as luxury, have become a common thing in more and more average homes.
From the graph, we know that in 1978, the city only possessed about 50,000 home phones because of the low living standard of people. Since then, however, owing to the reform and open-door policy, people become wealthy enough to afford home phones. The installation of home phones went a big step forward especially over the last five years. Compared with home phones in 1991, the number doubled in 1997, eight times as many as that in 1978.
The fast increase in the number of home phones not only indicates that we Chinese people are richer than ever, but also shows that we are eager to take part in social communication. It is definite that telephones will play an increasingly positive role in both our work and life.
