Robert Giles, of New York, got into some trouble with the law. He was accused of attack, convicted of the crime, and sentenced to a year in jail. He was sent to serve his time in Attica State Prison. While being punished for attacking someone else, Giles himself became the victim of an attack. But his attacker wasn’t a human being, but a cow.
While in jail, Giles was assigned to work on the prison’s farm. His job was to care for the dairy cows. While performing his assigned tasks, Giles was struck by a 500-pound cow who reared up and hit him in the neck and shoulders. As a result of the attack, Giles spent the next two months in the hospital. When he was released from the hospital, he was again to work on the prison farm.
