气候是影响人类社会进步的重要因素之一。在宋代，各种持续性的气候灾害，以及异常冷、热的气候环境，都对宋代的经济、军事、法律等在内的社会各个方面造成了非常重大的影响。正因为如此，宋人从未停止过对各种气象知识的主动学习和探索。在继承了前代丰富的经验和知识的同时，宋人也对这个知识体系进行了一些有益的补充。另外，在面对酷暑严寒的恶劣天气时，宋人不仅制定了各种具有针对性的行政措施，并在衣食住行等各个方面体现出了自己的避暑御寒意识，还充分地利用各种生活物品及设备、设施去改善自己身边的小气候，在整个过程中表现出了令人钦佩的智慧和勇气。

Climate is among the most important factors influencing the progress of human society. As far as song dynasty, varieties of constant weather disasters ,and extreme cold and hot climate conditions have exerted great effects on all aspects of society of Song Dynasty ranging from economy, military to law. It is because this that makes Songese keep studying and questing for knowledge about different meteorology. When absorbing the rich experience and knowledge of the former generation, they also made useful addition to the whole knowledge system. Besides, songese showed their remarkable talents on how to live in extreme cold and hot climate conditions. They not only made a series of administrative measures oriented for climate change, but also showed their unique idea on extreme weather from the respects of clothes,food, accommodation, and transportation.
They also made full use of the ordinary objects equipment and facilities in daily life to improve their living area around them. In this process, their striking wisdom and courage are fully displayed.
