雅思8.5是什么概念

我知道是几乎满分的意思，可是这就代表是英语最高水平了吗？
是这样，我周围有个同事刚考了个好像什么单科8.5，现在基本都不是人样了，天天就穿个小西服提个公文包跟海龟一样。
我上学时英语也不太次，6级65分（当年百分制时过的）少说也在8000词，我雅思好像才5000来词吧？
我想问我这级别能到8.5吗？我就是要灭灭他那狗样！
