题目虽然是好像二选一，但最终你的结论应该是二者要结合才行。
你先谈谈关于文化修养，你如果出过国，就结合你的经历对比些文化差异，并且包容以及拿来主义的态度对待不同文化等来说明它的重要性；接着来谈谈科学知识的修养，可以结合你的专业或社会中最新科技的对人们生活带来的积极的影响来说明它的重要性；然后得出结论二者缺一不可，举例说明，比如只有文化修养没有科技会怎么样，只有科技没有文化人文修养会怎么样。最后说所以我选择二者。
其中最重要的真实性，真情实感，你的真实思考和感受。
忌使用套话空话！
英语演讲比赛理论上好像是看英语水平，其实是看你的思考和觉悟，并且把它用英语表达出来。

英语演讲稿 Unity and Diversity

Good evening,Ladies and Gentlemen:

My number is fifty five.Remember my number,please.

My topic today is "unity and diversity coexist in China".As a college student,I could not ignore big issues happened in China recently.

The first thing is the railway in Tibet.After 48 years of hard work,the railway in Tibet was finished this year.Linked with the other part of China,Tibet ends its era without railways and opens a door to the bright future.For the first time,China unite by train as one nation.A great achievement,indeed.

The second thing is about sports.Beijing 2008 Olympics will be a great olympics that not only unite Chinese people but also the world."New Beijing,Great Olympics".A unique olympics is ahead.

Unity exists,so does diversity.Diverse cultures have met in China as a consequense of globalization.We do witness in our country many forign brands and their advertisements.Coca Cola,MeDonald's,KFC's,they are everywhere and they are popular.

In this case,many people may think that our traditional values are forgotten,our own culture are lost.But,are we really losing our tradtion?Are we losing the tradition that we have been keeping for more than 5000 years?No,I don't think so.Frankly,I like McDonald's but I also love Beijing snacks.I think,diversity only offer us more choices.In modern society,we enjoy the abandant of choice.They make our lives colorful and keep us up-to-date.As the saying goes,a tree can't stand by itself,so does culture.

Unity and diversity coexist in China,and I think,this condition will maintain for a long time.It certainly has its impact on everyone's life.We should know that there might never be easy answers and we should think deeply.

For me,I see this positively.I know even if our country are changing or to change,it is for better,not for worse.

Honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon.
Have you ever considered that culture is superior to science or science is superior to culture? Have you ever imagined that without culture and science, what our life would be like? Has it ever occurred to you what the relationship between culture and science is? Today, I’m here, standing on the stage, to share my opinions about Culture Smart or Science Intelligent.
Some people definitely applaud for the comingt imes of science and technology. Internet brings us a lot of convenience; different colors and styles present on our clothes; cars, trains and planes are applied in our daily life. However, some people blindly advocate the science-oriented view, ignoring the importance of culture. Human beings have been starting to abuse the power of science. During World War two, the American Army launched two atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which nowadays even has been affecting the local people’s life. It shows that science can do harm to our society.
Culture symbolizes the progress of human liberation and cultivation. Democracy, freedom and equal rights are always human beings’ pursuits. While some people pay excessive attention to the traditional culture, neglecting the significance of science. Devastating and incomplete cultures may bring us demerits. Ancient Imperial Examination System had bounded Intellectuals’ thoughts and provoked an impractical learning atmosphere. We should select the essence and discard the dross.
Just as Jerzy Engel said, “If a nation is going to stand at the highest scientific peak, it will not go without theory, even for a minute.” Well, how do we deal with the relationship between culture and science? As we all know that, the CCTV program, Lecture Room百家讲坛 is perfectly popular in China. It’s TV program that makes ordinary people have a better understanding of the masterpieces and history. As it widely reported that the ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games has broadcast Chinese culture vividly and made the culture in a brilliant display of colors. Smart culture and intelligent science influence and promote each other. With the guide of smart culture, intelligent science won’t depart from his direction and destination. With the guide of intelligent science, smart culture will keep away from absurdity and vulgarity. Therefore, we should integrate them together. Let them do more good to our society. Ladies and gentlemen, although the history and progress of the development of science and culture is filled with differences and disputes, we should thank those who have made great contributions to the world. Of course, we should thank most of us for the extremely kind and appreciative attitude toward science and culture. All in all, it is smart culture and intelligent science that make us such unique creatures on this planet.
