A very impressive Western style facility with Clean rooms and very organised and clean general production area. (full 5S). Main business is Thermostats, turning out a believable 3 Million Stats per annum. In 2007 turnover was $ 17.5 Million. Factory is about 60,000 Sq Feet. They have 30 % of the China market (Stats) 11 % (Valves). Also selling to Danfoss, York and Heatmiser in the UK. (Heatmiser basic Thermostat = $ 20) Working to ISO 9001 and TS16949. (FEMA and 8D as well). Most clients use external QA which Hailin welcome (KM can see why !).
Here, all the Thermostats are produced with the TRV Heads being made in Shanghai. Harrison admits they do not sell many TRV’s into the UK and are looking to learn and improve.
During the Factory tour we saw some 2 wire Motorised Valves ( $12.20) – Asked many times about 5 wire and eventually they admitted they also do 5 wire. They promised to send a Quote for these and also for the new Mobile Telephone Controlled Programmer which they have just developed. They did admit they do not make the brass valve bodies but rather buy these in.
Discussion on the TRV’s – after some discussion, the absolute lowest price possible is $ 5.80 (They had actually increased the quotation price from the last Quote ! Now starting point for negotiation = $ 6.08 was $ 5.80 which they will hold but NO lower (impression is that they really not very interested! Harrison was not even present for price discussion) – certainly a long way from DW target price of $ 4.48 And $ 1.50 above Yuhaun Zhongliang Copper Industry [YZCI] at $ 4.30 !!
The MOQ is 500 parts but, given the price position, no discussion at present on; Terms, Branding, Packaging, etc…

Shanghai
Moved onto Shangahi to see the TRV head factory. VERY disappointing factory is about 3,000 Sq Ft and looks like they have just moved in ! No sign of Injection Moulding nor of the body assembly (nor of making any components. This is a very small assembly shop – and we were told that Hailin very recently bought 40 % of this company.
They do have an EN 615 Test Machine and do know how to use it but the software records in the PC showed less than 20 records. They also have a dip test rig for testing one head at a time (YZCI test 20 at a time). The test room looked like it has just been painted and the equipment moved in yesterday +/- !! The conference room door was closed but KM observed they have a conference table but no chairs at all.
They claim a productive capacity of 4000 per day, time (YZCI say same), with 13 staff although only 9 visible today.
