“Hearing the news,they all jumped with joy.”能不能改成
“When hearing the news, they all jumped with joy.”？
但是 为什么 可以说“When leaving the airport,she waved again and again.”

可以改成When they heard the news ,they all jumped with joy.
Hearing是现在分词作状语，伴随状语，相当于由when引导的时间状语从句。

第一个句子中hear和jump是同一个主语they发出的动作，第二个句子leave和wave显然不是同一个人发出的动作,所以When leaving the airport，中的leaving不是伴随状语，而是现在进行时，When leaving the airport是省略了主语的省略句。
