In the contemporary society, the rapid progress of the technology has fundamentally changed our lives, especially the invention of mobile phone and computer, narrowing the space between people. However, referring to the individuals with various levels of income, technology tend to render them benefit with different extend- that is enlarge the disparity between the wealth and the poor.

There is no doubt that the prevailing of some High-Tech makes enormous benefit to our human as a whole, regardless of race, gender, social status and level of income. Take Internet as an example, the advent of Internet fueled the information explosion, which helped realize some seemingly impossible things such as E-book library and remote education; those miracles gave people from the impoverish district the opportunity to accept advanced education that was not available before era of information highway. And from then on, it is possible for the persons in poverty-striking area to change their fate and join the rich club after incessant hard work. Therefore, in this aspect, technology fills the gap rather than enlarge it.

Nevertheless, even though some applications of technique do not discriminate poor people, some specific technical breakthrough is used exclusively for certain groups. And the examples about that are not rare throughout the world. For instance, in china, the utilization of the third-generation telecommunication system, which charges relatively high price for the multi-media entertainment services, definitely excluded the low-income people out of its targeted customers. In such circumstances, the poor people will not feel the excitement and satisfactory as their rich counterparts do about the new technology. To conclude, in my opinion, we can not simply attribute the enlargement of discrepancy between the poor and the rich to the impetus of High-Tech. Indeed nowadays most technology promotions are conducted by private companies whose purpose is to maximize the profit. Thus some poor people might not be able to afford the expense. To improve such unbalance, government should shoulder the responsibility to develop more useful technology, benefiting the public.
