At Carl Sandburg Middle School in New York, a group of students are helping animals. They raise money and learn about things such as animal care and safety.
“ I joined the club last year because I wanted to help animals and learned how animals helped people,” a student, Betty said. “ We did a lot of things for the animal shelters. I also learned how service dogs helped the disabled people.”
Betty is a member of an after-school club called cougars Helping Animals. The club has about 40 student members.
Laurie Shelley is a teacher and she organized it last year. “(1) We have so many students who love animals and want to help,” Shelley said. “ I like animals, too.” When people advised me start the club, I thought it was a great idea.
The students are having a yard sale to sell old things. The students also made cards and sold them to students. They made some money and gave it away to the Animal Rescue Force.
