An advantage of this training is that Linda would develop an effective leadership style to supervise her inexperienced team. Thornton (2004,pp36), states that leaders who use a directing leadership style provide structure, action steps and controls necessary to complete the tasks. If Linda were to use the directing style, the morale of her team would improve, also, Linda's own stress would decrease and productivity could increase. Although the company would have to pay for Linda's training, in the long term, Linda would become a highly valued company asset.
