Matrix-1 (Fig. 1) started with the problem “off-specification treated gas from process absorbers”. the (upstream) Merox unit, oil and grease ingress from pumps, impact of antifoam/corrosion inhibitor additions, impact of high velocities, effect of oxygen ingress and the mechanism of HSS formation.
Table 2 summarized various action items aimed at controlling the problem in the amine system. While most of the action items were simplistic, we have covered the control of HSS followed by the decision to enhance amine system capacity as the items required major hardware change.
