A separate research proposal and sample of work must be submitted for all of the MPhil programmes. Your application will not be considered without these items. The research proposal should describe what you intend to study for your dissertation.
A dissertation subject is needed to ascertain whether we have the expertise to supervise your preferred topic and as an example of your ability to formulate your thoughts, write in English and present a research idea.
NB: For students intending to undertake an MPhil by thesis only, their research proposal should form a strong grounding for any future undertakings.
Ultimately, the candidate should indicate clearly why they should be chosen for the MPhil programme, emphasising any experience gained with key reference to the language, culture and (if applicable) other relevant aspects of the area studied
Any pieces of work which have been published by the applicant (relevant to the applied programme) would also be useful. As stated before, please ensure that your sample of written work is graded, and is signed by you the applicant.
NB: As well as ensuring that your application includes a separate research proposal, a graded and signed piece of written work, you must also ensure that you submit two academic references and your original transcript scores. The Faculty requires these items and your application cannot be reviewed without them. It is in your best interests to make sure that all of these items are present with your application when you apply - it is not advisable to send these items separately to the application form to the Board of Graduate Studies i.e. send all items together with your application at the same time to avoid disappointment and to ensure that you hear of your applications status in good time. 展开
