The reader's hair stand on end when he reads in the final pages of the novel that the heroine a dear lady who had always been so kind to everybody,had in her youth ,poisoned everyone of her five husband.这个句子中 怎么连用了两个had啊，过去完成时，只是用一个啊？

who had always been so kind to everybody, had in her youth , poisoned everyone of her 中其实是三个并列的谓语部分，为了使句子更加简洁，后面的两个并列部分都省略了关系代词 who 和助动词 had，恢复以后如下：

1. who had always been so kind to everybody, 女主人公对每个人总是那么和善
2. (who had ) had in her youth , (女主人公) 曾经记得自己年轻的时候
3. (who had ) poisoned everyone of her five husband (女主人公) 曾经伤害过她五个丈夫中的每一个。

可见三个句子都用了过去完成时态，had had in her youth 中，第一个 had 是构成过去完成时态的助动词，第二个 had 是实意动词 (have in 表示“贮存/记得”) ，因此连用两个 had 是必要的。
