But the nature of the newly appeared cells gave the Dutch team futher support.They were virtually all so-called CD4 memory cells--that is,cells that had already come into contact with antigens from specific invading microbes.what is more,so-called native CD4 cells--those that have not yet met an antigen--did not immediately appear.These findings strengthen the argument that antiviral drugs were not preventing HIV from killing cells, but simply releasing into the blood mature CD4 cells that had been trapped elsewhere.
