“oh, why can’t I be a large tree such as the others?” the little fir-tree sighed. “so, I would be able to spread my branches wide apart and watch the world with my crown! The birds would build nests between my branches and when the wind blows I would nod as gracious as the others over there.”
He didn’t enjoy the sunshine at all nor the birds and the red clouds sailing across his head from morning to evening.
During winters time when white glistening snow covered the earth, it happened quite often that a rabbit came running close and simply jumped over the little fir-tree! Oh, how unpleasant and provoking this was! 展开
