In Giles County, Virginia, the school board has removed displays of the Ten Commandments (com-mand-ment n. 戒律) in its schools.

But in nineteen eighty, the Court ruled that the Ten Commandments cannot be shown in public schools because displaying them shows support of religion by the government.

Since the Supreme Court ruling in nineteen eighty, more conservative (con-ser-va-tive adj. 保守的) justices (ju-stice n. n.正义，公正) have been appointed (a-ppoint vt. 任命，委派 ) to the Court.
