这几个短语的意思分别是什么，用法区别呢？ 请各举例子说明下
rather than 、 more than 、 other than

还有这个 ~thing but 前面是any还是no？ 还是都可以？ 这个用法？

rather than 是……而不是……；与其……不如…
例：We will have the meeting in the classroom rather than in the great hall. 我们是在教室里开会，不是在大厅里。
rather than 与would 连用时，构成“would rather...than...”句式，意思是“宁愿……而不愿……”，表示主观愿望，即在两者之中选择其一。例如：
She'd rather die than lose the children. 她宁愿死也不愿失去孩子们。

more than超过，不仅仅，超过
he is no more than 9 years old. 他不过才九岁
he isn't more than 9 years old. 他不超过九岁
he is no more a teacher than I am.他不是老师我也不是
he is not more happier than he used to 他没有像以前那样快乐了
the situation is more than even worse.情势越来越槽糕了

other than：固定用法，用于否定句中。意思是除了……，除……之外。
I can't do other than obey.
除了服从，我别无他法。

nothing but（除……而外；什么也没有；只有）后面可接
(1) 名词或代词：
For miles and miles I could see nothing except (= but) a great fire and lots of smoke. 一连好几英里，除了大火和浓烟我什么也看不见。
Under the soil there is nothing but sand. 在这层土壤下边只有沙子。
(2）不定式：A cold-blooded animal has no choice but to lie down and sleep. 冷血动物别无选择，只好躺下来睡觉。（注：这种句型中的不定式通常要带to；但当其前面的动词是do，或只有情态动词时，but后面的不定式要省去to。例如：
He did nothing but sleep all day long. 他什么也不干，成天睡觉。

anything but 绝不，根本不。如：
He was anything but a fool.他根本不是个傻瓜。
