一个英语句子的翻译

he called the three sons to him and said, "My sons, ----

我想知道“call the three sons to him”是不是短语call sb. to sb. 这样来的？有没有这样的搭配，就是call跟双宾语的形式。call sb. sth. 这样的？总之有点乱。请高手讲解一下call 的用法。

call 后面跟人是to do,跟物就是call sth.
如,please call me a taxi.也就是please call a taxi for me.

1. call at a place

2. call away

额。。。现在看到貌似看错了， call sb to sb 这个意思上来说就不好理解，原句理解应该是“三个儿子到他跟前”， 后面的to sb 应该不是和前面call 相连的，而是 补充说明的成分，楼主慎用吧。。。。。
