be about to＋动词不定式表示“马上做某事”
be about to 不能与tomorrow, next week 等表示明确将来时的时间状语连用。
was about to do sth. 表示将来马上要发生的事情或动作：
We were about to start working when it began to rain.
They were about to have an English exam.

be( am / is / are ) + going +不定式
When asked, she confirmed that she was going to retire.
It soon came out that Peter and Alice were going to get married.
不久大家知道了彼得和艾丽斯将要结婚的消息。
如果用was,表示在过去某一时刻之前的
A）说话人的意图、打算；
B）某种可能性（有迹象要发生的事）；
C）计划，安排要发生的事。
He did not answer and was to all appearance asleep.

3. Her mission was to reclaim former criminals.
