传统的交通灯控制系统多数由单片机或PLC实现,本文介绍的是基于VHDL语言和FPGA技术设计交通灯系统的一种方案。应用VHDL的数字电路降低了数字系统的设计难度,已得到设计者的广泛采用。本设计就是针对交通信号灯控制器的设计问题,提出了基于VHDL语言的交通信号灯系统的硬件实现方法。FPGA它是作为专用集成电路领域中的一种半定制电路而出现,既解决了定制电路的不足,又克服了原有可编程器件门电路数有限的缺点,以硬件描述语言所完成的电路设计,可以经过简单的综合与布局,快速的烧录至 FPGA 上进行测试,已成为现代 IC 设计验证的技术主流。
本文通过对系统进行结构分析,采用层次化的设计方法,编写了各个模块的VHDL程序,并利用Max PlusⅡ对应用程序进行了仿真,最后给出了相应的仿真结果。

The modern era is the era of automation. Traffic light control, as well as many other industry equipment are related to computer, a good traffic light control system will play a good role in the area of improving road congestion, illegal control and etc.
Traditional traffic light control system mostly implemented by the SCM or PLC, this article depicts a design of traffic light system based on VHDL and FPGA techs. Digital circuits using VHDL reduces the difficulty of the design of digital systems, which designers have been widely adopted. The design aiming to the design problem in the traffic signal controller, provides the implementation of traffic lights based on VHDL hardware. FPGA appears as a semi-custom circuit in the field of ASIC, which addresses the lack of custom circuits and overcomes the shortcomings of limited number of original PLC. circuits designed by HDL, which can simplify synthesis and layout quickly burned to the FPGA for testing, which has already become the mainstream of modern IC design verification technology.
This article analyzes the system structurally , using hierarchical design method, programs the various modules of the VHDL program, and using the Max Plus II to emulates the application, and finally giving out the corresponding emulation results.
