Throughout the history, China has had various kinds of things that are striking and remarkable. Among them I appreciate the cheongsam most. Since it shows the oriental charm, has historical significance, and represents the beauty of Chinese people nowadays.

In the movie, The Mood for Love , it is astonishing to see the fascinating curve of Maggie Cheung’s statues in cheongsam. No on can resist the oriental charm showed by the delegate design of the clothe. The seemingly soft texture of the fabric indicates the serenity and peacefulness in the characteristic of oriental women. The slit along the curve of women’s leg shows the open mind of the women at that time. To some extent, cheongsam is more an artistic masterpiece than simply a kind of garments.

All the themes along with the development of cheongsam are about liberation and enlightenment. It start with the downfall of china’s last feudal dynasty, the Qing Dynasty. As people began to realize the importance of liberty and freedom people’s perspective of clothe experienced drastic changes .this was when the cheongsam came into play.
