There is a trend to play computer games more and more among children nowadays and some people therefore start to concern about the effect they make on children. We can't deny that computer games have such a great power to attract us to spend time on it and it may sometimes develop our problem-solving skills and heplp learn to cooperate with friends in some of the games. However, after weighing up the pros and cons, I find the games do more harm to us.
In the first place, there are many games containing violence and other improper content such as adult-only scenes. We cannot even avoid those content through the process of playing since they are almost everywhere. For instance, when we click to enter a website, the first window showing up is usually advertisement with naked bodies. And also, I find many students enjoy playing CS which is really violent since its game rule is to kill as many people as you can. Students find these games exciting, especially boys, but they don't realize that they may be influenced unconsciously. Actually, according to the psychologist, most of the teenager criminals happen to commit crime because of imitation of the violence scene.
In addition, playing computer games usually requires one person to sit in front of the computer for a long period staring at the screen and it is obviously detrimental to our eyes. We all notice that the short-sighted rate keeps increasing these years since the computer and TV are widely used. Last summer, my sister spent all the vacation playing computer games and guess what, her eye sight dropped from 5.0 to 4.7 and she had to wear glasses when it was time for school.
Last but not least, once we begin to play computer games, we cannot quit since we get addicted to it. And that means we spend more and more time wasting on the game and get those negative influence that I just mentioned . Many teenagers claim that even if they know the seriousness of drowning in the games, they simply can't help themselves thinking about the game strategies and how they can beat the enemy. So it is better not to drop into this vicious cycle in the first place when we are still too young to control ourselves.
All in all, while the advanced technology do benefit us a lot in our daily life, computer games really give parents a headache. If we want to prevent the tragedy happening, just keep away from computer games and learn to study and work instead of playing. 展开
