It was snowing heavily and it got white everywhere . Six-year-old Becky had to stay in the warm room after supper . Her daddy was reading an evening paper and her mummy was doing some cleaning . The little girl was standing by the window and looking out of it . Her parents didn't allow her to go out by herself . She wished one of her friends could call her outside and so she could go out to ski on the slopr behind her house . but to her disappointment , nobody called .
"Oh , dear ! " Mr.Beckman called out suddenly .
"What's up ? " asked his wife .
"Elise , an eight-year-old girl , was kidnapped this moring . "
"yes ? " Mrs.Beckman asked in surprise . "Where did it happen ? "
"In a town which is twenty kilometers from ours , " said Mr.Beckman . "She wanted to skate on the river after breakfast and went there alone , was lost near the bank . The police only found her skates there . It's said there two young men were wandering there "
"That's too terrible ! Becky ! Have you heard it ? "
