In "X Generation", Coupland described the "cool" living environment that's popular in youth, namely, placing pinewood furnitures in the room, chandeliers, tables and chairs that remind people of the 50's; with dimmed lighting, hang some framed black-and-white artistic photos on the walls, and have a high tech modern stereo system. This design is called architectural digestive disorder. Poeple who live in such environments usually have this fear, that once they succeed, they will forget what they have personally demanded and desired, and will not be able to go back to their own nature.
