以马铃薯为原料生产淀粉时会产生大量的含有高浓度有机物的废水，如果直接排入水体则会造成水体污染。为了达到环境保护的目标必须对这些废水进行相应的处理从而使其达标排放。本课题是为武汉市青山区的A淀粉厂设计相应的污水构筑物使其排放达到规定标准。根据该厂的水质特征来看，BOD和COD浓度都很高，而规定BOD和COD的排放浓度却很低；且不同于其他水质特点的是该污水的NaCl浓度很高，属于高盐废水，这务必会使一些污水构筑物处理污水的能力发生改变。综上几点因素，通过比较本设计采用现今国内外较常用于处理淀粉废水的UASB-SBR工艺来处理该厂废水。并对该污水厂的主要构筑物、污水厂的总图布置和高程布置做了详细的计算和说明。
