您好,个人觉得 I can't think of anybody to invite. 改成 I can't think of whom to invite. 是没有问题的,但 whom 在句中应该不是(关系代词),因为(关系代词)的 whom 是用来引导(定语从句)用的,而在 I can't think of whom to invite. 句中并没有定语从句,仅仅是一个(宾格)的代词,应该算是(疑问词),或是(疑问代词);而 to invite 应该是(动词不定式)作 anybody/whom 的宾语补足语。
假如要用到关系代词 whom,完整的句子应该是:
I can't think of anybody whom (I want) to invite. 其中 whom 引导(定语从句)修饰 anybody,在从句中充当宾格,而默认的主语是主句中的 I;whom 是(关系代词)。
假如句子是:
I can't think of anybody (whom) to invite. 其中 whom 会被视为是(代词)作为 anybody 的(同位语),但这种形式 whom 是多余的,起不到任何作用。此时,句子可以改成:
I can't think of anybody who should be invited. 这里的 who 引导(定语从句),但在从句中充当主语。
