When an ordinary looking, but good-hearted woman and a very beautiful but unkind woman are both very old; so old you cannot tell what they looked like when they were young; I believe everyone will prefer the good-hearted woman. Beauty is only significant when you first meet someone. however, as you get to know someone, you begin to see past their appearances and get to know the person beneath; their past, their opinions and preferences. and it is those things that makes you chose to stay with someone. therefore you can say that inner beauty is the basis for forming friendships and relationships. Also, inner beauty can change your perception of a person's outward appearances. As you interact with a kind person, you grow fond of them because of their lovely personality and will often begin to think that they are more beautiful than you initially thought. Inner beauty will stay with you always, whereas youth will fade away, so beauty is only skin deep. Of course, I don't mean that beauty is not important at all, just that by comparison, inner beauty is more important.
