If we use number to identify these happy and sad, when happy index was bigger than misery index the behaviour could be moral and should be done.one thing to mention Benthamism is not only in view of the personal interest but also including the whole society's interest. therefore , as long as a behaviour could promote the hapiness of society, the this behaviour is deserve to do. acorrding to the notion of Benthamism, life is not too holy to be violated. the decision whether give up one's life depend on the quality of life and the value this life to the whole society. back to the case , a person who has terminal cancer , if the price of keep alive was no better than dead, how could we mention the quality of this life? and the medical resource is limited, this patient use the resource means other patients' resourse was decreased, then is that deservable to rescue an patient who has no salvage value? in the view of Benthamism , this is not deservable as for the life's society's interest.
